"Why do Muslim women wear the scarf (Hijab) ?"

While I was waiting in class for the professor to come in, a girl stare at me for a while, she was thinking if she could ask me a personal question "why do I wear the scarf on my head?"
Well; its not the first time it happens, and i think alot of people are wonderring why do I wear it, its an issue need to be addressed.
the main idea about the Hijab - the scarf- is to cover all the body but not hands and face. some people thinks that Muslim women are forced to wear it by their parents, family or husband, that is misconceptions. In my country its normal thing to see a woman with a scarf on her head, but here in USA its not for alot of people.

I think God loves us that he makes us cover all our body but not face or hands, why?
I will tell you why in a few, but first I want to ask you a question; when you go to buy candy from the store, Do you like to buy the one it does not have a cover on it or the one has a cover? Why dont you buy the one it does not have a cover on? I think because its full of microbes and germs. Well yeah I agree with you on this one, no one likes to eat any opened candy full of germs and microbes, and have everyone touch it.

first of all its a religious reasons, Our Prophet Muhammad is quoted as saying: "If the woman reaches the age of puberty, no part of her body should be seen but this - and he pointed to his face and hands."  basiclly its all about covering the women beauties like their hair, and among family and in front of their husband, Muslim women do not need to wear it. the hijab save the muslim women beauty. HIJAB SHOULD BE A SIGN OF PURITY AND DIGNITY. It is a sort of "screen" it protect Muslim women from the evil that exists in the world, it makes the women less likely to be harassed by men with lusty motives. less likely to be exploited for her beauty and feminity. thats why God loves us and want to protect us from any evil in the world.

Alot of people are cerous to know why I wear it, and after I tell them the reason, some people think I am crazy and the other like the idea. after all I am a Muslim and having the hijab on my head is one of my religion rules and I am proud to have it.

  2. I am curious, if women wear the scarf to keep themselves screened, why don't men also have to wear them?

  3. Well; the women wear it to make it less likely to be exploited for her beauty and feminity but the men are known with their manhood they dont have feminty and beauty that tempt others.

  4. To me this seems more cultural than religious, though it may have its roots in religion.

Is this a more cultural or religious?

  5. Its a Religious thing before culture, the culture comes second.
a lot of people thinks its a cultural thing since the women wear it in some countries more than another, but it depend on the number of Muslims in that country.
for example in middle east countries most of the poeple are Muslims thats why most of the women wear the head Scarf, but in USA few of the people are Muslims so few women wear the head scarf.
Also as a POINT not all the Muslim women do wear the head scarf, since not all the Muslim people are into the Religion. just like any other Religion.

  6. I always wondered why women where the scarf. I was alittle confused because I have a friend who is muslim and she does not where the scarf at all. Also why is it that some women just cover their head and then there are some women who has their whole face covered except for their eyes. WEhat is the difference?

  7. i hope i clear the idea of why Muslim women wear the head scarf for you.
as i mintioned before wearing the head scarf it depened on the person in these days, it is a religious thing to do but not all the people follow there religion rules; for example not all the christian people go to the church always tp pray.
and why some Muslim women cover all their face but not their eyes, actually it depend on them in Islam women have to cover all body but not face and hands, but if they are into the religion too much they mught have the face cover for more faith. and some others wear it because of their culture like Sudi arabian womens almost everyone wear it.
